The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), but withheld scores of 39,834 candidates over suspected malpractice.
This was disclosed by JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, during a press conference in Abuja on Friday. He stated that over 1.9 million candidates took the examination across 882 computer-based test (CBT) centres nationwide.
According to him, “A total of 2,030,862 candidates registered for the 2025 UTME. Of that number, 1,957,000 were verified for the examination, while 71,705 candidates were absent.”
Oloyede noted that some candidates’ results are being withheld due to biometric verification issues. “2,157 candidates had fingerprint mismatches, which raised concerns about registration fraud,” he said.
Despite these concerns, the registrar described this year’s UTME as highly successful, attributing it to tighter monitoring and the deployment of over 10,000 officials during the examination period.
He added that results of underage candidates and those with registration infractions are undergoing further scrutiny.
