The Nigerian Ports Authority announced that 30 vessels will arrive at Lagos ports carrying petroleum products and essential food items. These ships are scheduled to dock between January 26 and February 6 at Apapa, Tin-Can Island, and Lekki Deep Sea Ports. The arrivals include a mix of cargo to support energy needs and food supply.
Twenty of the vessels carry containers with various goods. The remaining ten bring gasoline, fresh fish, urea, bulk gypsum, bulk gas, bulk fertilizer, and general cargoes. This diverse load aims to ease shortages in fuel and commodities.
Currently, 12 ships and tankers wait to berth with items like alkaline, containers, bulk urea, general cargoes, fresh fish, bulk gypsum, bulk wheat, and empty containers. Another 22 vessels discharge bulk urea, crude oil, base oil, general cargoes, bulk gypsum, containers, bulk wheat, raw crude oil, and aviation fuel at the three ports.
The NPA shared these details in its daily shipping position report. Such regular inflows help stabilise supplies amid high demand for petroleum products and food across the nation.
