President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been conferred with the prestigious Lifetime African Achievement Prize by the Ghana-based Millennium Excellence Foundation, in recognition of his leadership and commitment to African development.

The award was presented during the foundation’s 25th anniversary celebration held in Kumasi, Ghana. Represented by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Tinubu was honoured as the special guest of honour at the ceremony.

In his acceptance speech, delivered by the minister, Tinubu expressed gratitude to the foundation’s patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, for the recognition and lauded the event as a milestone in promoting African excellence.

“I salute the visionaries who have nurtured this institution for a quarter of a century,” Tinubu said. He praised the foundation for recognising Africans “whose lives and work have lifted the continent and inspired generations.”

He urged African youth to contribute to the continent’s unity and development through science, education, governance, and entrepreneurship.

The event also honoured Dr. Benedict Oramah of AFREXIM, Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno, BUA Group Chairman AbdulSamad Rabiu, and Dumo Lulu-Briggs for excellence in various sectors.
