The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has supported 531 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with cash grants of N531,000 each and business starter kits to help them launch small ventures.
The initiative, held in Abuja, is part of a broader partnership involving the NNPC Foundation, NYSC, the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), and Kudimata Nigeria Ltd. The goal is to boost financial independence among Nigerian youth.
Speaking on behalf of NNPC Ltd’s leadership, Roland Ewubare encouraged the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely, calling it an investment in their future.
“This is a tool for growth, build something meaningful with it,” he said.
The foundation’s Managing Director, Emmanuella Arukwe, noted that over 800,000 corps members had undergone financial literacy training since 2023. The final 531 were selected after passing through a competitive process, scoring at least 70% in key areas like branding and business planning.
NYSC Director-General, Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Nafiu, praised the initiative for combining education with tangible resources. CAC also urged participants to register their businesses to access funding opportunities.
One of the recipients, Ozigi Faith, called the support a life-changing opportunity and encouraged others to stay focused and make the most of it.
