Suspended senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan will appear before an Abuja court on Tuesday, following criminal charges filed by the Federal Government over alleged defamatory remarks.
The case, instituted by the Director of Public Prosecutions, accuses Akpoti-Uduaghan of making statements considered injurious to the reputation of Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello during a television appearance and a private phone call.
Her lawyer, West Idahosa (SAN), confirmed her readiness to honour the court summons, though the exact nature of the hearing remains unclear
The matter has drawn attention due to the high-profile individuals involved, as the government moves forward with the prosecution.
