Court Says No to Yahaya Bello’s Medical Trip

The Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected a request by former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, to retrieve his international passport for medical travel to the UK.

Justice Emeka Nwite, who is presiding over the N80.2 billion fraud case brought against Bello by the EFCC, ruled that the medical report submitted to support the application was unsigned and therefore legally invalid.

The court also disagreed with the EFCC’s claim that the application was an abuse of court process, noting that seeking medical travel permission did not contradict existing bail conditions.

Despite these clarifications, the judge insisted that Bello had not provided enough credible evidence to justify releasing his travel documents.

The case was adjourned to October 7, 10 and November 10, 11 for continuation of trial.
