Fire Ravages Yinka Ayefele Radio Station Headquarters in Ibadan

A late-night fire on Friday destroyed parts of the Fresh FM Nigeria headquarters at Challenge, Ibadan, damaging its major studios and broadcasting equipment.

The blaze, which affected both Fresh 105.9 FM and Blast 98.3 FM, also spread to adjoining sections of the complex, including the newsroom and transmitter rooms. Staff members attempted to control the flames with fire extinguishers but were overwhelmed until firefighters arrived to contain the situation.

Management of the station said the full extent of the losses could not yet be determined and that the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

“We cannot immediately quantify the damage, and the source of the incident is still unknown,” said Samson Akindele, Head of Corporate Affairs for Fresh FM and Yinka Ayefele Limited.

No casualties were recorded, but the station praised local residents, passersby, and officials of the Oyo State Fire Service for their swift response in tackling the inferno.
