The Federal Capital Territory police command has verified that Arise News correspondent Somtochukwu Maduagwu died after descending from the upper level of her Katampe apartment during an armed robbery incident on Monday. Officers discovered the journalist unconscious at the location and promptly transported her to a medical facility.

The Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, reported that medical staff attempted to revive Maduagwu using CPR upon her arrival at Maitama General Hospital, but their efforts were unsuccessful. The assailants infiltrated a three-story residential building where the journalist resided, resulting in a security guard sustaining a gunshot injury after confronting the robbers.

Authorities have established a special investigation team to pursue the individuals responsible for the attack. The police command has extended its sympathies to the family of the deceased journalist, her colleagues at Arise News, and all Nigerians affected by the incident.
