New Police Chief Takes Helm in Nigeria’s Capital Territory

The police force in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory has welcomed its 34th commissioner, Dantawaye Miller, who stepped into the role on Friday to lead efforts in keeping the area safe.

He replaced Ajao Adewale, who has moved on to a different important task as ordered by the nation’s top police officer, Kayode Egbetokun.

In his first words to the team, Miller committed to improving current safety plans and working closer with local people to protect everyone living and visiting the busy capital. He asked residents to keep helping officers in their shared goal of a peaceful and secure community.

Miller brings more than 20 years of experience in various police jobs across the country, starting his career in 2002 after joining the force in 2000. Born on 15 October 1971 in Kaduna State, he is the son of a late senior officer. Over the years, he has held key posts, such as temporary aide to a state governor, security escort to a former deputy leader, chief protector at the oil ministry, and head of a mobile police unit at the presidential office.

Before this new job, Miller served as deputy head for operations in several states, area commander in another, and even led the police’s technology unit at headquarters. His last role was commissioner in Kogi State.

The capital territory police unit plays a crucial part in guarding the government’s main base, foreign offices, and vital national spots. Lately, the area has seen more safety worries, despite ongoing work to shield lives and property. Many now look to Miller for new ideas and strong guidance to rebuild trust and make streets safer for all.
