Nollywood star Regina Daniels has shared tearful videos online, begging for her brother’s release amid a bitter split from her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko. The fight has pulled in her family, with claims of beatings by his relatives and police grabs on her orders.
In clips posted early Friday, Daniels said she feels lost and scared, waking up to fresh bad news about her brother Sammy West each day. She hinted at going back to Nwoko, even if it means facing more pain, just to stop the hassle. “I tried so hard, but I’m breaking now,” she said, adding that her mum warned of her own arrest come Monday.
Sammy, whose real name is Samuel Ojeogwu, got nabbed in Lagos last week and moved to Abuja. Her brother abroad, Sweezzy, cried foul over plans to shift him to a tougher jail in Keffi. He shared how Sammy wept and his young daughter yelled about her dad bleeding. Sweezzy started an online plea against Nwoko’s power play, which has hit over 30,000 backers.
Daniels’ mum, Rita, slammed Nwoko in a clip, saying her girl gave him 50,000 dollars for his poll run and that he chased her fame. In a twist, Rita and her ex, Jude Ojeogwu, patched things up in Abuja to help their kids and spring Sammy free.
A letter from Delta State’s Ogwashi-Uku area called for old customs to end the marriage, like giving back the bride gift, which Nwoko turned down. But family elders said it’s not their fight and rubbished the note.
Stars like Mercy Johnson rushed about with troops to find Sammy, while Mercy Aigbe and Ruth Kadiri sent kind words. Old hand Charly Boy told the pair to air their laundry at home, not online. Comic Dee One stuck up for Nwoko, calling Daniels disloyal, and net voice VDM said her rants prove drug woes. Singer Seun Kuti blamed hard times for pushing young women into such ties.
Cops in Abuja said the case is with judges now and zipped it. Daniels vowed to guard her young ones alone if needed, but her main worry stays Sammy’s spot.
