A body that handles retirement benefits for past government staff has handed out 3.9 billion naira to clear old debts for more than 91,000 people who left their jobs.
The funds went to retired civil servants from the 1990s and early 2000s, covering months they missed out on due to past hold-ups in the system. The agency’s head said the cash reached folks in all 36 states and the main city area, with each person getting their fair share based on what they were due.
This latest round builds on steady efforts to fix long-delayed payouts, which have eased money woes for many families. Officials stressed that the group keeps working to sort all remaining claims and make sure no one waits forever for what they’ve earned.
