Police in Nigeria’s capital have brought a case against the brother of a well-known film star for joining in a plot, breaking into a property, attacking someone, threatening harm, and stealing goods.
Samuel Ojeogwu, kin to screen actress Regina Daniels, landed in court in Abuja over these claims. A police voice shared the update on Friday, after a complaint came in on 28 October against him and three more people. It listed the same wrongs plus online harassment.
Ojeogwu dodged calls to talk to officers several times. They got a judge’s okay to grab him, so he got caught in Lagos and brought to Abuja for a look into the matter.
Once the checks wrapped up, he faced a judge on 6 November on the five counts. The court held him until he meets the rules to get out on bond.
The police stand by fair ways and the law in handling such cases.
The news hits during rough times for Daniels’ family. She broke down in tears in a video that spread fast, upset over her brother’s lock-up. She said she would head back home and spoke of the hurt her loved ones face.
This follows weeks of talk about cracks in her marriage to lawmaker Ned Nwoko. She pointed fingers at him for rough treatment at home in an online post. He shot back, saying no to that and pinning her actions on drink and drug problems. He said her fight with those issues has strained their bond and pushed for her to get clean in a centre.
In the middle of the back-and-forth, Daniels marked a happy turn as her mum and dad, split for years, came back together. She tied it to the hard spots, like her brother’s grab.
