Senate President Godswill Akpabio has returned to Nigeria after a short trip to London, putting to rest speculation about his health.
Akpabio, who had joined other parliamentary leaders at the Sixth World Conference of Speakers in Geneva between July 29 and 31, arrived at the Airport earlier today. He was received by fellow senators, aides, and supporters.
Addressing reporters in Abuja, the Senate President dismissed claims that he had been hospitalised in the United Kingdom, saying such rumours were fuelled by social media.
“If you listen to the social media, you will go to war,” he remarked.
He assured Nigerians that the National Assembly would resume with “robust legislative engagements” and stronger cooperation with other arms of government.
Akpabio also defended Nigeria’s sizeable delegation to the Geneva conference, noting it would yield benefits for democratic governance.
