Akpabio Files Fresh N200bn Suit Against Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has filed a new N200bn defamation suit against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central.

The case, lodged before Justice U. P. Kekemeke of the FCT High Court, accuses her of making damaging allegations that portrayed him as a sexual predator and allegedly exposed him to public ridicule.

Court documents were served through the Clerk of the National Assembly after bailiffs were unable to reach her directly.

Confirming receipt, Akpoti-Uduaghan said she welcomes the suit, noting it finally gives her a chance to present her claims after the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges declined to hear her earlier petition. She maintained that she intends to prove her allegations of sexual harassment and the alleged backlash she faced for rejecting Akpabio’s advances.

The development has revived tensions between both lawmakers, following Akpoti-Uduaghan’s six-month suspension earlier in the year and her long-running accusation that Senate leadership attempted to silence her.
