Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has urged President Bola Tinubu to ensure that the proposed ₦58.18 trillion 2026 budget delivers real benefits to ordinary Nigerians.
Reacting to the budget presentation at the National Assembly, the Kogi Central lawmaker said big figures alone cannot fix Nigeria’s problems. According to her, what matters most is how government spending improves people’s daily lives.
She said Nigerians expect budgets to create jobs, fix infrastructure, improve healthcare and education, and support social services—not remain promises on paper.
Akpoti-Uduaghan also stressed the need for accountability, urging leaders to spend responsibly while citizens demand results.
President Tinubu, who presented the budget titled “Budget of Consolidation, Renewed Resilience and Shared Prosperity,” said the economy is improving and pledged stricter fiscal discipline.
However, the senator maintained that the true test of the 2026 budget will be its impact on Nigerian households.
