Nigerian media personality Bobrisky has called out members of the National Assembly over their lack of response to the recent killings in Benue State, accusing them of selective urgency in national issues.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, he criticised lawmakers for staying quiet despite widespread reports that over 200 lives were lost in attacks allegedly carried out by suspected herders. In contrast, he noted how quickly legislators reacted when he was previously in the spotlight for a legal matter.
“Senators didn’t call an emergency meeting over the killings in Benue, but they held one because of me. What a shameful country,” he posted.
Many Nigerians are urging the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in Benue, citing the scale of the violence and lack of immediate response from the authorities.
Bobrisky’s criticism adds to growing calls for elected officials to prioritise security and human lives over political distractions.
