An Abuja court has allowed former Labour Minister, Senator Chris Ngige, to remain on EFCC bail but with stricter conditions.
The court ordered Ngige to provide a senior federal civil servant as surety and submit property documents in Abuja. He was also barred from travelling outside the country and will remain in custody until the bail terms are met.
Ngige is facing trial over an alleged N2.2 billion fraud linked to contracts under the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund. He has denied the allegations.
The judge ruled that the case is bailable and stressed that Ngige is innocent until proven guilty. The trial resumes on January 28 and 29.
