Cyber Attack Hits NBS Website

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has reported that its official website has been compromised by hackers.

The announcement was made on Wednesday night via a post on X (formerly Twitter).

In its statement, the Bureau assured the public that efforts are underway to recover the platform, which hosts critical data on various sectors in Nigeria.

The post advised users to disregard any messages or reports from the website until its restoration is complete.

“This is to inform the public that the NBS Website has been hacked, and we are working to recover it. Please disregard any message or report posted until the website is fully restored. Thank you,” the statement read.

As of Thursday morning, attempts to access the website, www.nigerianstat.gov.ng, were unsuccessful, displaying an error message indicating that the site could not be reached.
