Deutsche Bank has indicated interest in helping Nigeria fund major work on two key Lagos bridges, rebuilding the Carter Bridge and fixing underwater damage on the Third Mainland Bridge.
Bank officials met with Works Minister David Umahi in Abuja, where they also restated support for the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway. They noted rising investor confidence in the highway project, with new commitments already crossing $100 million.
According to Umahi, the Carter Bridge has suffered decades of corrosion and strain, making a complete rebuild necessary. The Third Mainland Bridge, despite previous repairs, now needs deeper structural fixes to remain safe for long-term use.
Deutsche Bank is expected to come onboard after the government concludes its bidding process.
