Former Trade Union Congress president, Peter Esele, has criticised Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde, known as K1 De Ultimate, for allegedly defying airport safety rules and confronting airline staff.
A viral video showed the musician standing in front of an aircraft and blocking its movement after ValueJet barred him from boarding a flight from Abuja to Lagos. The airline said he refused to surrender a flask containing liquid above the 100ml limit, then allegedly poured its contents on the flight captain and others.
“Aviation laws are clear,” Esele said. “But enforcement often bends to influence. We must reject the culture of impunity where fame or power overrides accountability.”
He warned that such behaviour undermines safety and sets a dangerous precedent, adding that in a proper system, it would lead to swift legal action, not just a “tepid apology.”
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has placed K1 on a no-fly list for six months, pending a full investigation, following directives from Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo.
