God Warned Me Not to Leave RCCG or My Firstborn Would Die — Pastor Adeboye

At a recent church gathering in Ogun State, Pastor Enoch Adeboye urged Christians to remain steadfast in the place of their divine calling, sharing a personal experience to emphasise the gravity of spiritual obedience.

Speaking during a sermon themed “Destined for Greatness (Part 2),” the leader of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) cautioned against the modern trend of frequently switching churches. He addressed the youth in particular, encouraging them to avoid the habit of constantly identifying as first-time worshippers in new congregations.

Drawing from his early years in ministry, Adeboye recalled a sobering instruction he received after considering joining other thriving ministries at the time.

“I was clearly told that leaving where I was assigned would come at a painful cost, the life of my first child,” he said.

Despite RCCG being a modest church then, Adeboye said he chose to obey the divine directive, even though it meant submitting to a spiritual mentor with no formal education while he himself was a university lecturer.

His message was clear: spiritual placement is not always glamorous, but obedience secures destiny.

He made it clear that his remarks were not an attempt to discredit other denominations, but a reminder that God’s assignments are specific and must be respected.

“It’s not about being better than others. It’s about being where God wants you,” he concluded.
