Nigeria’s electoral body, INEC, has introduced a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) unit within its ICT department to improve how elections are managed.
The commission said the move is aimed at improving decision-making, boosting voter engagement, and using technology more efficiently.
Sam Olumekun, INEC’s spokesperson, noted that the AI unit will also help tackle risks like misinformation and improve how materials are distributed for elections.
He added that the initiative is part of INEC’s efforts to modernise its processes and adopt tech-driven solutions for more credible and efficient elections.
