Award-winning Nigerian singer Tems has taken a firm stand against years of unsolicited comments about her body, calling for an end to public obsession with her appearance.

In a candid message shared on X, Tems criticised the social media culture of body shaming, where she’s been repeatedly labelled “too slim,” “too fat,” or “not enough.” She expressed frustration that despite her years in the spotlight, people remain fixated on her body rather than her music.

“Dog, IT’S MINE,” she wrote. “Whether I gain or lose weight, it’s natural. I never hid my body, I just didn’t feel the need to prove or disprove anyone. The more you don’t like my body the better for me actually.”

Tems also mocked those who demand she “show her body,” challenging them to reflect on their own expectations: “Show ME yours first. See how that feels?”

The singer emphasised that her worth isn’t tied to public approval, and that she’s never sought validation through appearance. Her final message was blunt: “It’s enough now. Move on from my bum.”
