Iwobi Clears Up Row Over Super Eagles’ Hotel Video Before Morocco Clash

A key player for Nigeria’s national football team has pushed back against claims that he slammed the side’s stay abroad ahead of a vital World Cup tie. Alex Iwobi, who plays midfield for Fulham, posted a clip online that seemed to show shabby rooms for the Super Eagles in Rabat, where they face Morocco in a playoff for the 2026 tournament.

Fans jumped on the footage fast, calling it a poor setup for stars of the game and likening it to a basic student dorm. The clip spread like wildfire, kicking off chats about how bosses treat players on trips.

Iwobi soon set things straight, insisting he never knocked the place. He explained that he simply shared the video with no words of his own, and people read too much into it. “I didn’t say a thing; I just put up the video,” he made clear.

Football chiefs in Nigeria backed him up, saying the team is based at a solid spot called RIVE Hotel. They pointed out that the clip caught sight of a rundown old block from a window, not the rooms inside. The hotel works well because it’s close to practice grounds and the pitch for the big game.

With the dust settling, the Eagles are now locked in on beating Morocco to book a World Cup spot.
