The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has confirmed the release of results for candidates who participated in the 2025 UTME resit exercise, providing clarity on withheld scores and the status of underage candidates.

Over 330,000 candidates were scheduled to retake the examination after technical and procedural issues marred their initial test sessions. However, JAMB disclosed that more than 21,000 of those candidates did not show up for the rescheduled exercise.

A statement signed by JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, emphasised the board’s commitment to fairness.

“Of the 336,845 who were eventually scheduled… 21,082 were absent,” the statement noted.

In addition to releasing the resit results, the board also reviewed withheld scores involving underage applicants and those accused of academic misconduct. While some of these results have now been cleared for release, JAMB clarified that they do not automatically qualify such candidates for university admission.

“Such result does not however qualify them for admission,” the board stated, explaining that affected underage candidates had previously signed a commitment acknowledging that only those meeting minimum standards would be considered.

Candidates linked to online cheating rings, often referred to as “WhatsApp Runs”, were also addressed. While their results have now been released, JAMB warned that this should not be mistaken for tolerance of exam malpractice.

“The meeting emphasised that its decision is not an endorsement of candidates’ unacceptable acts, rather a once and for all waiver,” the statement clarified.

All results, except those flagged for serious infractions or pending mop-up exams, are now available. Candidates can check theirs by texting UTMERESULT in capital letters to 55019 or 66019, using the phone number linked to their registration.

JAMB also debunked misconceptions about result-checking fees, stressing that charges from the shortcode service do not generate revenue for the board.

“The shortcode approach is to protect the critical data of the candidates,” the board explained, while urging candidates to avoid falling victim to cybercafé exploitation.
