In a strategic move to enhance aviation infrastructure and economic growth, the Lagos State Government has entered into an agreement with Summa Group for the construction of the Lekki-Epe International Airport.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, while announcing the partnership, described the project as a game-changer for the state’s economic landscape.

According to him, the new airport will not only improve connectivity but also ease pressure on Murtala Muhammed International Airport, which has long struggled with congestion.

The Lekki-Epe corridor has emerged as a major economic hub, with developments like the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Dangote Refinery, and deep-sea port attracting both local and international investors.

The airport is expected to support this growth by facilitating easier movement of goods, services, and people.

With an initial capacity to handle at least five million passengers annually, the project is a critical component of Lagos’ long-term vision to position itself as West Africa’s leading business and tourism hub.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Summa Group, a global player in construction and aviation projects, signals the state government’s commitment to modernising infrastructure and strengthening Lagos’ role in global trade and commerce.
