Lagos State Government Increases Boarding Fees for Public Schools to N100,000 per term.

The Lagos State Government has announced an increase in boarding fees for all public secondary schools across the state, raising the amount from N35,000 to N100,000 per term.

This was disclosed in a letter signed by Olufemi Asaolu, Director of Basic Education Services, Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Eduucation, and addressed to all boarding school principles.

As outlined in the letter, titled “Review of Boarding Fees in All Public Secondary Schools in Lagos State for 2024/2025 Session,” the newly approved fee of N100,000 is effective immediately, with the resumption date set for September 15, 2024.

The letter emphasized that no additional fees should be collected by the schools.

This new increase has stirred reactions from parents, such as Mrs. Ayo Ogunse, who expressed surprise at the sudden fee hike, noting that many had already paid the previous amount of N35,000 before receiving the updated circular.
