Nigerian rapper Lil Kesh has revealed his growing disinterest in marriage, citing high divorce rates and the prevalence of unhappy unions as reasons behind his decision to remain single.
Speaking on The Esther Show, the 31-year-old artist said he’s prioritising personal growth and career advancement over romantic commitments. “I broke up with my last girlfriend because I figured I could do better on my own,” he explained, adding that he hasn’t found a balance between relationships and professional focus.
While not completely ruling out love, Lil Kesh noted that any future relationship would have to be worth the sacrifice. “It would be nice to find someone who would make me compromise, but I’m not in that space right now.”
He stressed that his stance isn’t about avoiding responsibility or chasing freedom, but about being honest with his limitations. “I want a happy home, but I know I’m not ready to build that yet. I won’t jeopardise anyone’s happiness just to tick a box.”
Despite societal expectations, Lil Kesh says he’s fortunate his parents aren’t pressuring him into marriage. “They’ve accepted that I’m different,” he said.
The rapper also made it clear he has no intention of fathering a child outside wedlock, or settling down out of obligation. For now, he remains focused on his journey, not the altar.
