Mercy Chinwo’s Ex-Manager Granted ₦20m Bail Over Alleged Money Laundering

A Federal High Court in Lagos has granted ₦20 million bail to Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, popularly known as EeZee Tee, the former manager of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, who is facing trial for alleged money laundering.

Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke ruled on Friday that the defendant must provide one surety who lives in Lagos and owns property worth the bail sum. He has 72 hours to meet the condition, with trial set to begin on June 20.

Onyedikachukwu is accused of laundering $255,446 and conducting unauthorised forex transactions. According to EFCC counsel Bilikisu Buhari-Bala, the defendant in June 2023 negotiated a $52,895 forex deal “without authorisation from the Central Bank of Nigeria.”

The EFCC initially filed 14 counts against him, later amended to seven. He has pleaded not guilty.
