The relatives of late Nigerian musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, have called for a clear and thorough probe into how the 27-year-old star died last year. They have also told his widow to stop using the Aloba name until tests prove their young son is truly the singer’s child.

In a joint note from two top family members, the group named a lawyer to handle all checks on the boy’s parentage and money matters linked to Mohbad’s work. They picked another top legal expert to speak for them with police and courts looking into the case.

Three family men will look after the singer’s cash, songs, and other goods. They left room for the widow to join if tests show the boy belongs to Mohbad. The kin stressed no full wedding took place under local customs, as key steps like gift-giving to her side never happened.

The family asked fans to stay calm and let the law sort things out. They plan a fresh goodbye event for Mohbad once all checks end. The singer left his old label run by Naira Marley in early 2022 and passed away in September 2023, sparking big rows online. Police set up a team soon after to dig into what went wrong.

The widow’s lawyer hit back hard, saying the family dodged court tests three times and now wants them abroad at a spot they pick. He said she is ready any time and no one can take away the name her husband gave her. He pointed to a high court ruling that lets people keep such names freely. The boy, he added, is no outcast, and his client has nothing to hide.
