Dr. Vincent Paul, a senior lecturer at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has encouraged unemployed graduates to take up skill acquisition as a practical step toward financial independence.

Speaking at an alumni event in Lafia, he stressed that waiting for government or office jobs may no longer be realistic given Nigeria’s high unemployment rate.

“As a Nigerian graduate, it is very important to learn a skill,” he said. “This will help you start your own business and earn while waiting for your dream job.”

Paul also urged political leaders to support youth development by organising more skill-based training programmes, adding that such efforts could turn young people into employers rather than job seekers.

He charged the newly inaugurated alumni executives to focus on projects that will benefit members and promote long-term growth.

“To achieve any tangible goal, a strong financial base is of utmost importance,” he noted.

The new National President of the NSUK Alumni Association, Nuhu Egya, thanked the university community for their trust and pledged to lead with vision and commitment.
