Nigeria’s national power grid collapsed on Monday around 3pm, cutting electricity supply across many parts of the country.
Checks showed that power generation, which earlier peaked at about 4,800 megawatts, suddenly dropped to 139 megawatts at the time of the collapse.
The cause of the outage has not yet been confirmed.
However, it happened while efforts were ongoing to increase power generation following gas supply issues linked to pipeline vandalism.
As of the time of filing this report, all 22 power plants connected to the national grid had shut down.

This gave me a whole new perspective on something I thought I already understood. Great explanation and flow!
