Nigeria and Angola have signed new agreements to strengthen cooperation, focusing on the fight against drug trafficking and the promotion of cultural exchange.
The deals were reached in Luanda during the 5th Nigeria–Angola Joint Commission, the first time the meeting has held in over two decades.
Speaking at the event, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, said the partnership is designed to boost growth and create opportunities for citizens of both nations.
“Our meeting was not only to reflect on our relations but also to identify new areas of cooperation for a better future,” she said.
The two countries also discussed easier visa processes, trade opportunities, and cultural programmes such as film and music collaborations. Nigeria further proposed a joint boat cruise along the Atlantic coast to promote tourism.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu noted that more agreements are being prepared for signing in the near future.
