Nigeria has officially granted Air Tanzania permission to operate direct flights between Lagos and Dar es Salaam.
The approval, issued by the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, is aimed at boosting trade, tourism, and stronger ties between the two nations.
“This is a significant step towards aviation cooperation and excellence. We are confident it will benefit both countries,” said the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Ibrahim Abubakar Kana.
Tanzania’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Selestine Gervas Kakele, said the link would help fix Africa’s long-standing problem of poor regional flight connections, calling Nigeria “the gateway to prosperity” for the continent.
Air Tanzania has completed the necessary safety and regulatory checks and is preparing to launch flights soon.
