Nigeria and Cuba have signed a new agreement to improve cooperation in key areas like trade, healthcare, investment, and technology.
The Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Parrilla, visited Nigeria on Monday, where he met with his Nigerian counterpart, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar. Their discussions highlighted the longstanding historical and cultural ties between both nations, dating back to the role of African heritage in shaping Cuba’s identity.
“Cuba has a special place in Nigeria’s history. We share culture, traditions, and past experiences,” Tuggar said. He also praised Cuba’s role in supporting African countries during their struggle for independence.
Parrilla, in turn, expressed Cuba’s appreciation for Nigeria’s continuous diplomatic backing, particularly against international sanctions. He affirmed that the bond between Cuba and Africa, especially Nigeria, remains a priority.
“When you say Cuba, you are also saying Africa,” he said, emphasising the deep connection between both countries.
