The Nigerian Army has issued a strong warning to the public about fake recruitment notices circulating online. These false advertisements claim that applications have opened for the 90th Regular Recruitment Intake and other recruitment programmes. The Army clarified that these posts are fraudulent and did not originate from any official military source.

In a statement, Captain Abubakar Umar Hammanga, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, described the reports as fake and misleading. He emphasised that the Army follows a strict procedure for announcing recruitment exercises and will only release authentic information through its verified official platforms. The public will be duly informed through official channels once the portal for any recruitment intake is formally opened.

The Nigerian Air Force has also issued similar warnings about fake recruitment messages for the 2025/2026 Basic Military Training Course and Direct Short Service Commission. Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, stated that no such recruitment exercise is currently ongoing. He reminded the public that all NAF recruitment processes are free, transparent, and merit-based, with no fees charged at any stage.

These fake advertisements often appear on social media platforms and may include phone numbers or WhatsApp contacts to lure unsuspecting individuals. Fraudsters use these methods to deceive and defraud people, potentially stealing personal information and bank details. The Army advises the public to be cautious and avoid sharing or responding to unofficial recruitment claims.

To verify genuine recruitment exercises, the public should rely only on official communication channels, such as the Army’s website and verified social media platforms. Anyone with information about fraudulent activities should report it to the appropriate authorities.

The Nigerian military remains committed to transparency and professionalism in all recruitment processes and urges citizens to remain vigilant against scams.
