Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has criticised Lagos as an unhealthy environment for upcoming musicians, warning that the city fosters greed and selfishness.
In a post on X, the Abuja-raised artist claimed that growing up in Lagos could turn creatives into “packaged beasts” more concerned with self-interest than artistry.
“The worst place for a young artist to grow is Lagos. It’s the most selfish place to grow,” he wrote. “You will become them, a greedy, selfish, and self-centered packaged beast. That’s why it was easy to run through the industry as the machine I am. I’m too real for you all.”
Odumodublvck credited his rise in the music industry to his Abuja roots, saying they helped him maintain authenticity in an industry he views as competitive and cutthroat.
