Ondo State: 15 Rescued from Sex Gang

Officers in Ondo State have freed 15 women aged between 20 and 26 from a dangerous group that tricked them into sex work. The women came from various parts of Nigeria, drawn in with false promises of good jobs like housework, event hosting, or work abroad, as well as chances to make videos for social media.

A special police squad, acting on solid tips, raided a flat in Alagbaka, Akure, where the group kept the women. They caught three men running the ring, including the main one, Jayeola Joshua, from the same area. Police are now hunting down the other members still at large.

Once in Akure, the women faced awful demands. The gang made them send naked pictures and films to paying customers for sex. The top suspect pocketed most of the cash, while the whole setup hid behind claims of filming romance clips online to fool people.

The flat was rented just for these crimes, showing how crooks target desperate young women chasing real work. Police bosses have called in the owners of the building for questions and vowed to keep fighting such evils to shield those at risk.

This bust highlights the rising threat of people smuggling in Nigeria, where thousands of women end up forced into sex trade, often far from home.
