Nigeria’s leader, Bola Tinubu, has arranged urgent gatherings with top advisory panels on Thursday, 10 October 2025, to address the growing worries over safety across various regions and other vital matters facing the nation.

These important discussions will take place in the main meeting room at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, showing the leader’s strong push to improve the country’s defences and rebuild trust among citizens as threats continue to rise.

On Monday, Dr Emanso Umobong, the top official in the Cabinet Affairs Office, shared details through Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, inviting all members to join in person or online.

The notice explained that the sessions will cover crucial topics tied to the country’s well-being, especially safety and law enforcement. The first group will start at 1:00 p.m., followed by the second at 2:00 p.m.

The first panel, led by the president, acts as a guiding team made up of past leaders, former national heads, retired top judges, regional bosses, and the nation’s chief legal officer. It offers advice on big decisions, such as protecting the public and filling high posts.

The second group handles the setup, management, and day-to-day running of the national police service, along with picking and handling senior staff.

Insiders close to the presidency revealed that the talks will look over the current safety landscape, check progress in armed efforts, and explore new steps to fight armed robberies, abductions, and clashes between communities in the northern and middle parts of the country.

The agenda will also touch on political and organisational choices, like putting forward a replacement for the current head of the body that runs elections.

These events follow the president’s arrival back in the capital on Monday night after a busy ten-day stay in Lagos for work-related activities, where he chatted with business experts, aid groups, and local figures.

His flight, registered as BBJ T7-NAS from San Marino, touched down at the special section of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 6:55 p.m., as noted by the State House press team.

During his time in the bustling city, Tinubu held talks with key industry players, such as Bayo Ogunlesi of Global Infrastructure Partners and Keem Belo-Osagie of Metis Capital Partners. Their conversations focused on boosting spending in building projects, power supplies, and transport networks—areas key to spreading out the economy and creating more jobs.

He further welcomed Arsenio Dominguez, the top official at the International Maritime Organisation, together with Adegboyega Oyetola, the minister for sea and ocean resources, to explore ways to grow Nigeria’s ocean-based activities as a smart option away from fuel dependence.

Prior to heading home, the president visited spots in Oyo, Imo, and Plateau states for public occasions and meetings, where he repeated his team’s goals of bringing people together, ensuring safety, and fostering growth for all.

At a service in Jos to remember the late mother of the All Progressives Congress national head, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, Tinubu renewed his pledge to peaceful relations among faiths. He stated: “My aim is to bring this nation together and secure its success. We are making headway in those areas.”

The Thursday session with the first panel marks the second such event since Tinubu took office, and it should help spark better teamwork between government levels to handle the wide-ranging safety problems at hand
