Nigeria’s House of Representatives is investigating a viral video showing Nigerian miners in the Central African Republic (CAR) alleging they were abandoned and mistreated.

The workers said a Chinese mining company recruited them, seized their passports, and left them stranded in Senye village, Bambari.

Committee chairman Jaafaru Yakubu said, “We regret the unfortunate situation and are conducting a thorough investigation to uncover what happened.”

Businessman Abdulrauf Ademola, accused in the video, denied seizing passports or withholding salaries. Lawmakers clarified he is not linked to the Chinese Embassy or legitimate Chinese firms in Nigeria.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs later confirmed the miners were rescued and are now with the Nigerian Embassy in Bangui.
