Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has left the PDP for the APC. He announced the move on Tuesday at a stakeholders meeting in Port Harcourt, just a day after visiting President Bola Tinubu in Abuja.
Fubara said he joined the APC to openly support the President, adding that the decision was made with his supporters.
The defection follows months of political tension in Rivers, including the six-month state of emergency earlier in the year. After the crisis eased, Fubara reconciled with his political rivals under Tinubu’s guidance.
He said the switch to the APC is meant to bring stability and keep the state focused on development.
