Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has launched three new train sets for the Blue Line rail service in a move aimed at improving public transportation in the state.
Each train set includes four coaches, and their addition is expected to double the passenger capacity on the Blue Line. The governor said this will help reduce waiting times, shorten travel hours, and improve overall efficiency.
The unveiling took place at the National Theatre Station, with Sanwo-Olu promising that trains will soon run every 10 minutes. He also thanked President Bola Tinubu and the Federal Government for their support in making the project possible.
Sanwo-Olu added that more trains are expected later this year for the Red Line, which will carry twice as many passengers as the Blue Line. Work on the second phase of the Blue Line, extending to Okokomaiko, is also ongoing.
According to the governor, these upgrades are part of efforts to build a better and more reliable transport system for Lagos residents.
