Senate Confirms Gen. Oluyede as New Army Chief.

The Senate has approved the appointment of Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede as Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff.

This confirmation followed a report by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Senator Abdulaziz Yar’ Adua, which was unanimously adopted by the Senate on Friday, November 1, 2024.

Oluyede had been serving in an acting capacity since the passing of his predecessor, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, after a brief illness.

His formal appointment solidifies his leadership of the Nigerian Army.
