Senate Confirms Major General Shaibu as Army Chief

The Senate has confirmed Major General Waheedi Shaibu as Nigeria’s new Chief of Army Staff after a brief screening at the National Assembly, Abuja.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio directed Shaibu to “take a bow” and assume office immediately, describing the exercise as a constitutional duty to ensure capable security leadership.

Shaibu’s confirmation followed that of General Olufemi Oluyede as Chief of Defence Staff, signaling the Senate’s move to fast-track President Tinubu’s new service appointments.
