Senate Stops Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Return Over Ongoing Court Case

The Senate has ruled out Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s return to plenary, saying her suspension is still valid until the Court of Appeal delivers judgment on the matter.

In a letter signed by Acting Clerk of the National Assembly, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, the Senate clarified that the Kogi Central lawmaker’s suspension, which started on March 6, 2025, remains in force.

“The matter remains sub judice, and until the judicial process is concluded, no administrative action can be taken to facilitate your resumption,” the letter stated.

Although she has challenged the suspension in court and claims to have secured a favourable judgment, Senate leaders say they will not act until the appellate court rules.
