The Senate will today screen President Bola Tinubu’s newly appointed service chiefs as part of moves to strengthen national security.
The nominees are Gen. Olufemi Oluyede (Defence), Maj. Gen. Waidi Shaibu (Army), Rear Admiral Idi Abbas (Navy), Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke (Air Force), and Maj. Gen. Emmanuel Undiendeye (Defence Intelligence).
Tinubu urged lawmakers to fast-track their confirmation, following his recent military shake-up aimed at improving inter-agency coordination and the fight against insecurity.
The development comes amid rumours of a failed coup, which the Defence Headquarters has dismissed as false.
