Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has announced her intention to return to the Senate on July 22, 2025, citing a court ruling that deemed her suspension unlawful.
While addressing reporters during a community outreach event, the Kogi Central lawmaker revealed she had officially notified the Senate of her planned return. According to her, the court’s position remains binding, regardless of the Senate’s appeal.
She emphasised that although the suspension sidelined her from lawmaking and oversight functions, it did not prevent her from executing constituency-focused projects. However, she noted that being away from the chamber restricted her from pushing legislative proposals and contributing to national debates.
Akpoti-Uduaghan described the court’s judgment as a clear directive and argued that her presence in the Red Chamber is not just lawful, but a constitutional duty owed to her constituents.
