Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has taken legal steps against Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, accusing them of defamation and misconduct.
Two different High Courts in Abuja have given approval for court documents to be served on both lawmakers. The actions are tied to claims that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s rights were violated through public statements and alleged harassment.
“Certain remarks made on national television have caused significant damage to her character,” said her legal counsel, Michael Numa (SAN).
One of the lawsuits seeks ₦5 billion in damages, while both cases are expected to proceed in June.
“These cases are about restoring dignity and upholding the rule of law,” another lawyer involved in the case added.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who is currently on suspension from the Senate, insists the legal action is necessary to protect her reputation and ensure accountability.
