The commencement of Zulki’ida 1446AH has been officially set for Tuesday, April 29, 2025, following an announcement from the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, His Eminence Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar.
The declaration was conveyed through a statement issued on Monday by Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu, Wazirin Sokoto and Chairman of the Sultanate Council’s Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs.
According to the statement, no sightings of the new crescent were reported on Sunday, April 27, 2025, by both the National Moon Sighting Committee and the Sultanate’s advisory body. In line with Islamic tradition, Monday, April 28, 2025, will therefore complete the 30th day of Shawwal 1446AH.
“The first day of Zulki’ida 1446AH falls on Tuesday, April 29, 2025,” the statement affirmed.
The Sultan also extended warm greetings to the Muslim faithful across the country and urged continued prayers for the nation’s unity, peace, and prosperity.
