The Super Eagles training camp in Cairo now hosts 22 players as preparations intensify for a friendly match against Egypt. Twelve more players joined on Monday, boosting the squad ahead of the clash at Cairo International Stadium on Tuesday at 8pm Egypt time, or 7pm in Nigeria. The game allows the technical crew to evaluate team shape and readiness for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
New arrivals include Ryan Alebiosu, Ademola Lookman, Semi Ajayi, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Amas Obasogie, Igoh Ogbu, Tochukwu Nnadi, Francis Uzoho, Stanley Nwabali, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and Raphael Onyedika. Twenty players took part in the smooth evening training session, showing strong energy and commitment.
Super Eagles Media Officer Promise Efoghe noted the positive atmosphere. “Training went smoothly, and the players showed good energy and commitment, which is encouraging at this stage of preparations,” he said. He added that the friendly will help assess progress before the AFCON challenge.
Six more players remain expected to complete the squad. The team plans to travel to Féz on Thursday for final AFCON preparations in Group C, starting against Tanzania on December 23.
Nigeria chases a fourth continental title, following wins in 1980, 1994, and 2013. The campaign carries the theme “NAIJA 4 THE WIN,” fueling hopes for success in Morocco.
